Verdict on The Cancer Conflict
The Cancer Conflict is a documentary that follows two cancer patients that search for solutions outside the normal medical treatment. Surinder Paul looks to go down the non-hospital treatment refusing the operation to remove the tumour. Grant finds himself questioning the medical advice, after learning of treatments from other countries.
This documentary shows us how difficult a cancer diagnosis can be for patients and doctors. The doctors are given the best scientific solution, while the patient can look outside the box for their own solutions. Ones that go against medical advice, but they can’t be forced to follow them.
The documentary does an excellent job of showing the problems faced by everyone involved. It tackles the serious moments well and shows that outside of the treatment the support system is just as important.
Final Thoughts –The Cancer Conflict is a very important documentary.

I have not watched the film, however I’m compelled to share my brief story wherever possible as it directly relates to the story of the film.
My Dad was diagnosed with very advanced and aggressive metastatic cancer at age 61. He went on to trial medication. It had some unpleasant side effects as it was aimed at eradicating advanced cancer.
It worked.
His cancer was no longer visible with scans and he was then free to change from the aggressive treatment, to a more passive ‘maintenance’ drug.
Being the person he was, he eventually turned on the treatment and saw it all as a scam. This resulted in an incredible amount of googling and online research into alternatives – this only furthered his conspiracy theories on cancer treatment.
He no longer took his medication and instead went with natural alternatives. Including growing weed.
Fast forward 7 years. He died.
His cancer had returned. He found out when it was once again quite advanced and this time his attitude toward it all was very toxic as he viewed doctors as the ones perpetuating the scam, so he never underwent treatment.
His final month was in palliative care, where I spent 24 hours a day being with him until his last breath.
To say his death was hard is an understatement. However it was also unnecessary.
I share this story as it reminds me of Steve Jobs. All the money and intellect in the world won’t save you if you show arrogance in the face of cancer…
