Break Out Role: He did gain a cult like following from his spell in The Walking Dead but I do feel he is still waiting to get a full blown breakout role.
2000 – 2009: After his previous uncredited role he started 2000 with another one in ‘Remember the Titans’ 2000. It wasn’t until 2006 where he got his first role in a film with ‘Somebodies’ followed up by his own directed, written and lone starring ‘White Man, Black Man, Jew Man’. He did make his way into television with a couple of shows and in 2009 he got to star in a small role in Oscar winning film ‘The Blind Side’.
2010 Onwards: In 2010 he got the role of Theodore ‘T-Dog’ Douglas in ‘The Walking Dead’ which he lasted for two complete seasons. He did get to star in a couple of films with ‘Justice’ opposite Nicolas Cage, ‘Between Love and a Hard Place’ and ‘ A Box For Rob’.
My Favourite Role: T-Dog – The Walking Dead – While the character seemed to stick around and never really get involved with the major storylines it became like a game wondering how much longer he would make it and when he finally did get killed off it was almost missed because of the other death that shocked the show.
Number of Roles: 11

Breakout Role: I think the breakout role for Alanna has to be ‘The Walking Dead’ where she managed for get herself a supporting role that has lasted a couple of season at the time I am writing this. As we know the show is known for killing characters off when we least expect it, but how long can Tara last especially as it is a character not from the source material?
2001 – 2009: Alanna started off like most of the rest of the Walking Dead cast by appearing in a steady amount of television shows. There are no films in this time but these were the early sets.
2010 Onwards: Alanna got a good start to this decade with a television show ‘First Day’ it might not have been around too long but it opened doors. This opened the door to her only film role ‘Peach Plum Pear’. Come 2013 we got to meet the character Tara who joined up with a defeated Governor unaware of his true nature.
My Favourite Role: Tara – The Walking Dead – she is sarcastic member of the survivors who has a bound with Glenn but hasn’t spent enough time with the rest of the characters yet.
Number of Roles: 38
Biggest Roles: The Mist, The Majestic, The Walking Dead
Debut Role: TV – The Martian Chronicles (1980)
Film – Separate Vacations (1986)
1980s Career: While Laurie was only making her first steps into the acting world in the 80s we only got a couple of roles. We have a couple of television roles ‘The Martian Chronicles’ and ‘Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future’. We also had two films Separate Vacations and Physical Evidence.
- The Martian Chronicles (1980) 2 Episodes
- Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future (1988)
- Father Dowling Investigates (1991)
- Secret Service (1993)
- Family Passions (1993
- Destiny Ridge (1993)
- Due South (1995)
- Highlander (1995)
- Murder, She Wrote (1996)
- Poltergeist: The legacy (1996)
- Two (1996)
- The Outer Limits (2000)
- The Magnificent Seven (1998-2000) 18 Episodes
- Big Sound (2001)

- The Shield (2008) 13 Episodes
- The Walking Dead (2010-2013) 35 Episodes
- Major Crimes (2014) 2 Episodes
The 90s: While Laurie appeared in a ton of television shows in the 90s it was this decade where she started to make her make in film. We had ‘Expect No Mercy’ and ‘Past Perfect’. She remained on the edge of breaking out though with those films not being the most successful.
Break Out Role: The Majestic (2001)
2000-2009: Laurie continued her work in television and did get long appearance in shows during this decade but it was her films that really stuck out. We had the brilliant ‘The Majestic’ opposite Jim Carrey. A supporting role in ‘Fantastic Four’ but her performance in ‘Silent Hill’ the best of the video game adaptation really stands out as her character went through a horrific death. We also have her performance reteaming with Frank Darabont for ‘The Mist’ where she is involved in the shocking final moment of this film.
2010 Onwards: So far this part of her career was dominated by her appearance in ‘The Walking Dead’ as Andrea one of the most popular characters from the source material but in the show she became one of the least popular because they changed her too much. Also in this time she appeared in the Dumb and Dumber sequel.
My Favourite Role: Silent Hill – the cop who is trying to help our heroine find her missing daughter, but ends up getting caught up in the middle of the battle in the mysterious town.
Stars They Work With Often: Frank Darabont
Sarah Wayne Callies
Number of Roles: 22
Biggest Roles: Sara – Prison Break, Lori – The Walking Dead
Debut Role: Television – Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (2003)
Film – The Celestine Prophecy (2006)
2003 – 2009: Sarah made her screen acting debut with a guest role in ‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’. She followed that up with another one off appearance in ‘Dragnet’ before getting a lead role in a television show. The show was ‘Tarzan’ which was similar to the modern daty cop shows using a classic tale, it only lasted 9 episodes. What followed was more guest appearance but in 2005 she got her big break in ‘Prison Break’. Sarah also starred in a few films ‘The Celestine Prophecy’, ‘Whisper’ and ‘Bittersweet’.
- Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (2003)
- Dragnet (2003)
- Tarzan (2003) 9 Episodes
- Numb3rs (2005)
- Queens Supreme (2003-2007) 5 Episodes
- Prison Break (2005-2009) 70 Episodes
- House (2010)
- The Walking Dead (2010-2013) 35 Episodes
Breakout Role: Sara – Prison Break (2005) – Sara was the prison doctor who fails for Michael and leaves the door open for the escape. Even though she did miss a season, she did return for the final conclusion of the much loved show.
2010 Onwards: In 2010 Sarah got a chance to work as a guest in ‘House’ but the year would be bigger for her when she got the role as Lori in ‘The Walking Dead’ and even though many people disliked her character, it made us like the other a lot more. Sarah also appeared in a few films ‘Lullaby for Pi’, ‘Black Gold’ ‘Faces in the Crowd’ ‘Foreverland’, ‘Black November’ and summer film ‘Into the Storm’.
Next Big Role: Horror – The Other Side of the Door.
My Favourite Role: Lori – The Walking Dead – I know many people didn’t like this role, but I felt that even though she came off as a bad mother, it actually offers a much realer idea of how hard it would be in a world like that.
Number of Roles: 16
Biggest Role: The Walking Dead
Debut Role: Not Quite Right (2005)
2005- 2009: Upon making her first acting appearance in ‘Not Quite Right’ in 2005 Sonequa went on to appear in two popular television shows ‘Law & Order: Criminal Intent’ and ‘Army Wives’. Sonequa also went onto appear in supporting roles in films ‘Blind Thoughts’ and ‘Rivers Wash Over Me’ there was one lead role for Sonequa in ‘Toe to Toe’ which is a sports drama about lacrosse.
- Law & Order: Criminal Intent (2008)
- Army Wives (2009) 3 Episodes
- The Good Wife (2009-2011) 8 Episodes
- Gossip Girl (2011)
- NYC 22 (2012) 5 Episodes
- Once Upon a Time (2013) 7 Episodes
- The Walking Dead (2012 – 2015) 37 Episodes
Break Out Role: As a television star I think The Good Wife would be her break out role as her film career has yet to truly take off yet.
2010 Onwards: Sonequa got supporting roles in three major television shows at the start of this decade with appearance in ‘The Good Wife’, ‘Once Upon a Time’ and ‘The Walking Dead’ all three shows are long running and she appeared in multiply episodes. The only released film she starred in was ‘Shockwave Darkside’.
My Favourite Role: Sasha Williams – The Walking Dead – Sasha is sister of Tyreese who meets up with our hero Rick while they group are still at the prisoner. She joins the fight against the Governor, she ends up with Bob and Maggie after the attack on the prisoner, while everyone is searching for loved ones while still trying to survivor. Sasha has proven herself good in combat and while only a supporting character she could become much more important in the future.
