Story: Superhost starts as vlogging couple Claire (Canning) and Teddy (Chau) look to go on their latest travel vlog as a remote Superhost house that is notoriously difficult to get into, with host Rebecca (Gillam).
As the couple look to record their latest episode, they start to see the strange side of Rebecca, leaving them feeling uneasy around her, before she shows her true colours.
Thoughts on Superhost
Thoughts – Superhost follow a couple of travel vloggers that are looking to give their opinion on the latest property, only to learn the owner isn’t everything they are expecting, showing a darker side to them. This is a film that could easily get compared to Creep, with the way the owner of the home isn’t as stable as first thought, this is where Gracie Gillam steals the whole film, with the fact you just never know what she will do next. When it comes to the couple, it is nice seeing one looking outside of the social media work, while the other one is obsessed with maintaining their fame. Where the film does fall shorter, does come from that repetitive nature of seeing how Claire and Teddy look to record the same thing over and over, which I guess is pointing out just how much behind the scenes work can go behind social media celebrity status.
Final Thoughts – Superhost is a creepy horror that is carried by the excellent performance from Gracie Gillam.
