Never Let Me Go (2010)

Director: Mark Romanek

Writer: Alex Garland

Starring: Carey Mulligan, Andrew Garfield, Keira Knightley

Story: Three friends Kathy (Mulligan), Ruth (Knightley) and Tommy (Garfield) grew up in a very exclusive school where they learn their fates for when they grow up. Once they become adults they will become organ donors so others can have transplants.

With them going their separate ways Kathy becomes a carer so she will be able to escape her fate for a few more years, as a carer she will look after other who will be donating their organs. While Ruth and Tommy start their denotation before one more chance meet can reunite them for one last time before Ruth and Tommy reach their completion.

Verdict: This drama based on a novel of the same name by Kazuo Ishiguro put up lots of moral messages. It leaves you thinking about the friend’s situation and makes you think what would you have done with your chance. All the characters add something different to the story. If you have read the book you will know the ending and I feel the ending is very good to the story even though I haven’t read the book. A dark drama well worth the watch but some of the more casual movie fans may find the film a bit on the slow side.
