Verdict on Havoc
Recap
The movie follows a crooked detective who gets drawn into a massive drug war. He has worked with the families of the people involved and must stop things from escalating and exposing him. However, nobody wants to let him walk away, as control of the city is up for grabs.
Best Parts
We know going into this movie that Gareth Evans knows how to deliver chaotic action. Once everything is unleashed, this is pure chaos, bloodshed, violence, and nothing seems to be held back. It is a ruthless action movie with countless bodies. The performances are good and the commitment to the fight sequences brings the brutality to the film.
Worst Parts
The problem with creating such a massive reputation with The Raid movies comes with expectation. This doesn’t hit the same as those movies and feels more like an American studio’s attempt to use the brutal action model. Elsewhere, the story feels like it is trying to do much more than it needs to.
Final Thoughts – Havoc is a brutal, ruthless action movie.
