Story: Deadware starts when friends Jay (Alkhafaji) and Rachel (Froelich) catch up on webcam for the first time. 1999 gave the pair this opportunity to chat from different parts of the world. However, they believe their lives haven’t gone the way they planned.

The pair spend the night in a shared screen adventure through a haunted house. They plan a game called ‘House of Hunger’, despite Jay’s resistance to join. However, once they begin, they learn a disturbing truth about one of their former friends and the game.

Recap

Best Parts

The movie gives us a disturbing series of events surrounding a late 1990s online game. It shows that interactive games offer much more than people knew the answers. It uses the creepy found footage concept to create the horrors the pair experiences.

Worst Parts

The reveal feels like something you could see coming from a long way away. Elsewhere, it leans a bit too much into the shock value of early internet shock footage.

Final ThoughtsDeadware is full of creepy, uncomfortable moments.
