Story: The Uncanny starts when Wilbur (Cushing) receives an offer to publish his stories. However, he must reveal how he learnt the stories through the eyes of cats. The first story takes them to an elderly lady whose money-hungry family are waiting for her to pass away. However, they have their own ideas to speed up the process.
The second story takes place in Quebec when a young girl gets a new cat, but her connection to her cat causes problems. Ones, her big sister must pay for in an act of twisted revenge. The final story follows a film director working with his new younger wife. However, the surprise additions to the family are kittens that didn’t plan on having.
Verdict on The Uncanny
The Uncanny is a horror anthology following an author trying to get his work published. He believes that cats were behind a host of murders through the years and his stories play into that. However, his stories have gained him the attention of cats who want to keep him quiet.
This is a nice set of horror stories, each leaning into the idea that cats are evil. They cover different eras and present different stories, which could present new threats. The stories could have been built on the middle one in Quebec having the most interesting ideas in place. In the end, these are entertaining without reaching the highest level of fear.
Where to Watch
aFinal Thoughts –The Uncanny is an entertaining series of horror tales.
