Story: The Uncanny starts when Wilbur (Cushing) receives an offer to publish his stories. However, he must reveal how he learnt the stories through the eyes of cats. The first story takes them to an elderly lady whose money-hungry family are waiting for her to pass away. However, they have their own ideas to speed up the process.

The second story takes place in Quebec when a young girl gets a new cat, but her connection to her cat causes problems. Ones, her big sister must pay for in an act of twisted revenge. The final story follows a film director working with his new younger wife. However, the surprise additions to the family are kittens that didn’t plan on having.

The Uncanny is a horror anthology following an author trying to get his work published. He believes that cats were behind a host of murders through the years and his stories play into that. However, his stories have gained him the attention of cats who want to keep him quiet.

This is a nice set of horror stories, each leaning into the idea that cats are evil. They cover different eras and present different stories, which could present new threats. The stories could have been built on the middle one in Quebec having the most interesting ideas in place. In the end, these are entertaining without reaching the highest level of fear.

Story: Orca: The Killer Whale starts when Captain Nolan (Harris) and Rachel Bedford (Rampling) hunt a killer whale. However, the one they kill is pregnant and her mate Orca watches his family die. Orca doesn’t leave the cove and starts hunting fishing boats trying to get out to sea.

Captain Nolan must find a way to stop the rampaging animal who is now hellbent on vengeance. Nolan works with Rachel to understand the mindset and how the whale is thinking.

Orca: The Killer Whale is an adventure horror following a killer whale that goes on a rampage when its partner is killed by hunters. It terrorises the local area and the hunters must figure out how to stop the rampage.

This movie looks to capture the magic of Jaws with a Killer Whale instead of a Shark. It changes things up by giving more motivation to the killer whale, which makes the audience cheer for the whale over the humans. There is a much more reflective mentality of what happened, giving the story more heart, instead of being a blood-run  chase. It should come with a warning because the animal sequence can be difficult to watch, even if you know it is all movie magic. If you loved Jaws, you will enjoy this one.

4K UHD STEELBOOK, 4K UHD, BLU-RAY, DVD & DIGITAL OUT 2nd SEPTEMBER

Final Thoughts – Orca: The Killer Whale is an emotionally charged revenge tale.

The Disappearance is a thriller following a hitman who discovers his wife has vanished. He believes she might have left him, but suspects something more sinister going on. However, not everything is as simple as he expected.

This movie shows the difficult life of a hitman and their loved ones. It shows the shady world, where not everything is going to be as obvious as it seems. However, it jumps all over the place and becomes difficult to keep up with. It seems to jump around time, which makes things feel disconnected and putting things together can become difficult.

Final Thoughts – The Disappearance is an overly complicated thriller, which feels disconnected.
