Plot: A close-knit group of friends gather in French Burgundy to finally scatter ashes of their dead friend. When the widow unexpectedly brings her new boyfriend, the weekend takes a turn, and all friendships and relationships are put on edge.

Story: The Awkward Weekend starts when a group of friends and family come together to spread the ashes of their late friend. Jelmer (de Bot), Job (Karthaus), Evelien (Zweerman), Kato (Spoor), Aad (Greidanus), Bram (Greidanus) and Titia (Chronis) come together for the events.

As they come together, they entertain themselves with traditional games. However, past revelation starts coming to light for the friends. This gets to test the friendships that have become distant over the last few years.

Verdict on The Awkward Weekend

The Awkward Weekend is a Dutch comedy following a group of friends that come together. It sees them addressing the problems from their past and questioning where things could have gone differently. All while looking to say goodbye to one of their closest friends.

This gets to take us on a wild weekend that sees how life can change over a series of events. It shows that people can wish they had more in life and that things can get out of hand. Certain moments bring comedy to the movie, while others address the more serious moments in life. The beautiful backdrop is the highlight of the movie bringing people together for a big moment in life.
