Verdict: Easy to Watch Action

Story: The Marine 4: Moving Target starts by making the point through the credits that America has always been full of heroes. We learn that Olivia Tanis (Roxburgh) has discovered something she shouldn’t have and been assigned for elimination. Next up we meet down on his luck Jake Carter (Mizanin) trying to live a normal life in security after all his time in the Marines. Carter working on his first day in this new security job where he has to help protect a high value package Olivia who has whistle blower secrets against a defence contractor.

When the convoy carrying Olivia is hit by a group of mercenaries including Vogel (Blacker) and Dawes (Moinet), Carter has to use all his skills to keep her alive with the majority of his team dead. Carter and Olivia have to go through the against the odds race to survive through the wilderness where Carter knows how to survive but Olivia isn’t willing to trust him or anyone, but working together is the only way to make it out alive.

The Marine 4: Moving Target is one of those straight to DVD action films that really doesn’t test you too much, the time period seem to be 24 hours and if you have seen ‘First Blood’ you will know ever single trick. The story offers nothing original and gets the by the book simple action done in a solid way. This will go down to be very easy to watch but seriously could have had a lot more too it. (5/10)

Actor Review

Mike ‘The Miz’ Mizanin: Jake Carter is our returning hero who is know working for an elite security unit. He is on the first day off this job when he has to take Olivia Tanis a high-value asset to the justice department but when his convoy is ambushed he must use his skills to protect her and get her to the attorney general. Mike does a good job as the hero but his character does make some terrible decisions. (6/10)

Josh Blacker: Vogel is the lead mercenary being used to track down the girl, he doesn’t care how big the body count is, he just wants to get paid. Josh makes a generic villain offering a nothing original to the role. (5/10)

Matthew MacCaull: Ethan Smith is the inside man who has betrayed his country to cover up the secrets Olivia has ready to expose, he tries to handle everything in a calm manor but his mercenaries are making that difficult. Matthew does make the smart villain more interesting but again very generic. (6/10)

Danielle Moinet: Rachel Dawes is second in command in the mercenaries who is the one Vogel trusts the most because she is deadlier than the rest of the unit. Danielle looked the part of a mercenary but didn’t get enough scenes. (6/10)

Melissa Roxburgh: Olivia Tanis is the feisty whistle blower who is out to expose the truth about a defence contract but attracts the attention of the wrong people. She has to reluctantly work with Carter to survive and bring out the truth. Melissa does a solid job even if her character annoyed me a lot. (6/10)

Support Cast: The Marine 4: Moving Target is filled with disposable characters that all seem to get shot during one of the almost countless shoot outs.

Director Review: William Kaufman – William gives us a basic action film that is easy to watch but won’t be one you will remember. (5/10)

Action: The Marine 4: Moving Target very generic scenes but plenty of them to go around which is basically just shoot outs after shoot outs. (6/10)

Thriller: The Marine 4: Moving Target you know the outcome before the film starts so it never really pulls you in enough for a thriller. (4/10)

Settings: The Marine 4: Moving Target uses the settings of mostly wilderness that has perfectly placed cover as well as a police station that also has perfectly placed cover. (5/10)
Special Effects: The Marine 4: Moving Target is filled with very poor CGI gun shots and explosions. (2/10)
