Plot: It is summer break and best friends Amélie, Bintou and Morjana hang together with the neighborhood teenagers. At night, they have fun sharing goosebumps stories and urban legends. But when Amélie is assaulted by her ex, she remembers the story of Kandisha, a powerful and vengeful demon. Afraid, upset, she summons her. The next day, her ex is found dead. The legend is true and now Kandisha in on a killing spree. The three girls will do anything to break the curse.

Story: Kandisha starts when Amelie (Lamusse) finds herself being assaulted by her ex-boyfriend Abdel (Lyes) leading her to summon a demon known as the Kandisha, who kills Abdel. The Kandisha doesn’t stop with just Abdel though, going on a rampage of its own, leading to Amelie needing to work with her friend Bintou (Bemba) and Morjana (Saadi) to stop the vengeful spirit.
Thoughts on Kandisha
Thoughts – Kandisha is a French horror that will see a group of young women summon a vengeful spirit to take out the men who have wrong them in life, one that gets out of control as they look to find a way to stop it before it kills people they love. This is a story that will give us good motivation for the summoning to happen to start with, even if things do get out of control. Each attack does become more terrifying and horrific, as we get to learn more about what the demon looks like, with each cosmetic addition shows how deadly the demon is. The locations do feel like we are watching Candyman, with how the locations are used for added fear effect. The performances in the film are strong with the chemistry between the three leads shining through.
Final Thoughts – Kandisha is a great horror that uses the atmosphere to created added effect.
