Story: Book Club: The Next Chapter starts when the four friends Diane (Keaton), Vivian (Fonda), Sharon (Bergen) and Carol (Steenburgen) spend the quarantine online. Once the restrictions are lifted, they get reunited and Carol suggests a trip to Italy, the holiday they missed when they were younger.
Once the women are in Italy, they go on the typical travels around the beautiful country. It is filled with ups and downs, as they navigate the area.
Verdict on Book Club: The Next Chapter
Book Club: The Next Chapter is a comedy following friends who head to Italy for a bachelorette party. It follows them on a series of different adventures as they prepare for the big day. However, not everything goes as smoothly as expected, but they are together which is an important part of the adventure.
This is a solid follow-up to the surprise hit of an original. The four women have excellent chemistry together throughout the adventure. However, some of the jokes feel dated already as I have been saying for a while. Any movie that uses COVID-19 as a plot device automatically gets a negative feeling from me.
Where to Watch
Final Thoughts – Book Club: The Next Chapter is a solid follow-up relying on the women’s chemistry to thrive.
