Story: Blade of the Immortal starts when a young girl Rin Asano (Sugiskai) sees her father murdered by swordsman Anotsu Kagehisa (Fukushi) with her mother taken away. Rin is guided towards finding a samurai who can’t die, leading her to the immortal Manji (Kimura) cursed with immortality.
As the two start a journey together, Run learns that Manji will do the right thing, even if he wants to stop his immortality, with many different people searching for ways to kill him along the way.
Thoughts on Blade of the Immortal
Blade of the Immortal is an action fantasy that will follow an immortal warrior. That will need to protect a young girl hunting for revenge on the man that killed her father. This will go into the manga style being ultra-violent, showing the incredible numbers that the warriors must fight back against.
The final battle is an amazingly long fight sequence with seemingly thousands of bodies piling up around the area. This leads up to this moment will give us a range of different characters that have different encounters with the unlikely pair, leading to us to wonder what will happen between the two sides. The performances in the film are great, as we let the true star of the show, the chorography for the fights being the part of the film you remember the most.
Final Thoughts – Blade of the Immortal is a massive action movie, never holding back on the scale of the fights we see.
