American Psycho (2000)

Title – American Psycho

Year of release – 2000

Genre – Crime/Drama

Length – 1 hour 42 minutes

Rating – 18

Director – Mary Harron

Writer(s) – Bret Easton Ellis, Mary Harron and Guinevere Turner

Who is in it? – Christian Bale as Patrick Bateman, Justin Theroux as Timothy Bryce, Josh Lucas as Craig McDermott, Bill Sage as David Van Patten and Chloe Sevigny as Jean to name a few.

What’s it about? – I reallydidn’t get this film until someone explained it to me then it just clicked. It’s a strange film which makes you believe that the main character is a murderer but it’s all inside his head. Plenty of blood, sex and craziness.I really did not get the film so can’t really explain it much better.

Is it any good? – Christian Bale delivers a grand performance as the psychopath and a great performance by Chloe Sevigny helps it along its way however unless you understand it, it’s not very good.

Why should I watch it? – Give it a go but it is crazy.

How do you rate it overall? – 5/10

2 Fast 2 Furious (2003)

As part of the Paul Walker focus weekend here is my review of one of Paul’s portrayals of Brian O’Conner in the Fast and Furious series. I hope you enjoy, Aled from SofaWatch

Title – 2 Fast 2 Furious

Year of release – 2003

Genre – Action/Crime

Length – 1 hour 47 minutes

Rating – 15

Director – John Singleton

Writer(s) – Gary Scott Thompson and Michael Brandt

Who is in it? – Paul Walker as Brian O’Conner, Tyrese Gibson as Roman Pearce, Eva Mendes as Monica Fuentes, Cole Hauser as Carter Verone plus many more
What’s it about? – Brian O’Conner (Walker) is an ex cop and along with his partner Roman Pearce (Gibson) they set on a job to transport dirty money for a shady Miami criminal Carter Verone (Hauser). However O’Conner and Pearce are working undercover for the police and are on a mission to bring Verone down.

Equipped with high powered cars and their wits they take on the challenge and work together to bring this criminal to his end.

Is it any good? –  Loved this film and the combination of Paul Walker
and Tyrese Gibson worked a treat. The lovely Eva Mendes was as pleasing
to the eye as always. The story line was fantastic. Go undercover and
work for the drug exporter and then bring him down whilst saving the
girl. Plus doing all this in a modded Mitsubishi Evo and Mitsubishi
Spyder, amazing cars and the exhaust tones were pleasing to he ear.

Why should I watch it? – Any fan of fast cars will love this film. It is full of awesome cars, awesome driving and of course Eva Mendes!!

How do you rate it overall? – 8/10

The Lazarus Project (2008)

As part of the Paul Walker focus weekend, here is my guest review of my favorite Paul Walker film role. I hope you enjoy, Aled from SofaWatch.

Title – The Lazarus Project

Year of release – 2008

Genre – Mystery/Thriller

Length – 1 hour 40 mins

Rating – 15

Director – John Patrick Glenn

Writer(s) – John Glenn and Evan Atrowsky

Who is in it? – Paul Walker as Ben Garvey, Piper Perabo as Lisa Garvey, Bob Gunton as Father Ezra, Lambert Wilson as Avery, Linda Cardellini as Julie Ingram and Malcolm Goodwin as Robbie to name a few.

What’s it about? – Ben’s (Walker) brother Ricky is out from prison and gets in contact over a plan he has for one last job. Initially Ben says no until he is let go from his job, which changes his mind and he agrees to go along. The job goes south and Ricky is dead along with some security and police officers. Ben being the last criminal alive takes the rap for the whole thing and is sentenced to death. One minute Ben is having a lethal injection, the next he is with Father Ezra (Gunton) and begins working as a caretaker for a psychiatric unit. All Ben wants is to get back to his family but many obstacles are put in his way. Surrounded by mysterious goings on and a lot of questions to be answered Ben fights against his own sanity until he discovers that nothing is as it seems.

Is it any good? – This is my favorite role portrayed by Paul Walker, the way he plays his character is so realistic. Full of suspense and mystery this film makes you question what is on going, it makes you feel apart of the film guessing at why what is happening happens.

Why should I watch it? – If you loved Shutter Island you will love this film also. The acting is superb and the storyline is written so well to portray the mystery and suspense.

How do you rate it overall? -10/10
