Verdict on Above the Knee
Recap
The movie follows a man who has been battling his mind, which he believes his leg is rotting away. He has visions of cutting it off, and as they become more often, he battles how dark of a place they are taking him.
Best Parts
The movie takes us down a dangerous path of wanting to self-harm because the mind is taking over. It shows how it is consuming Amir in everyday life and the urge to go through it takes over. This is a dangerous subject matter to address and stigma behind it. While things are more of an extremer method behind it all, it still shows the horrors the mind goes through. The performances are fantastic, with Freddy Singh shining in the leading role of the movie.
Worst Parts
The subject matter is going to be difficult for a lot of people to watch, anything that ever touches on it is a sensitive subject and not for everyone.
Final Thoughts – Above the Knee is a disturbing and uncomfortable watch.
