9 Hidden Gems Starring the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 Cast

9 Hidden Gems Starring the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 Cast

The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 is about to come and hit the cinemas. It has an all-star cast that have all appeared in some of the biggest movies of all time. I thought it would be a good idea to look at some of the hidden gems from the cast to see what made them the megastars they are today.

As always this isn’t a ranking list, and I am only picking one per star.

9 Hidden Gems Starring the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 Cast

1 – Chris Pratt – The Extreme Team (2003)

Chris Pratt is known as the leader of the Guardians, Peter Quill. Ever since he got the role in Guardians his career has skyrocketed, with Jurassic World, The Lego Movie and most recently The Super Mario Bros. Movie.

When Chris was starting to break out, it was being part of the team in movies including Zero Dark Thirty, Her and Moneyball. However, his career has always seen him being part of a team making him the strongest figure.

The Extreme Team is the first movie Chris ever starred in. It follows a group of secret black ops rescuers made up of Gen X extreme sports athletes. In this era, we were having a few movies like this, with the Vin Diesel-led XXX being the most notable. While The Extreme Team was never seen by many, it feels like one we could have a lot of fun with.

2 – Zoe Saldana – The Losers (2010)

Zoe Saldana has one of the most amazing records in film history, she stars in the 3 highest-grossing movies of all time. She also managed to find herself in three massive franchises, including the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the others being Avatar and Star Trek.

Not everything has gone as smoothly outside of the big franchise with most of the movies struggling to find an audience. Even if the critics give the films mixed responses, we get to see some excellent movies to check out in this selection.

The Losers is another comic book movie that follows a group of special forces working for the CIA that gets betrayed. They look to clear their names and discover who turned on them. This movie has a big cast including Idris Elba, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Chris Evans. It is a lot of fun and you can enjoy everything you see in this movie.

3 – Dave Bautista – Final Score (2018)

Dave Bautista has made the transition from WWE superstar to movie superstar. He is often discussed as the best actor of anyone who has transitioned between the two worlds, despite others having better Box Office receipts.

Dave has got to work with some of the biggest directors in some of the best modern-day movies. These include Dune, Spectre, Glass Onion and Knock at the Cabin. He also starred in other franchises including The Scorpion King 3, Riddick and Escape Plan II.

Dave went on to show his comedy ability in the movies Stuber and My Spy, which could easily have been the pick here. However, I went with Final Score because of how bonkers the concept is. It is Die Hard in a Football stadium, as he must stop a terrorist looking to blow up the stadium with his latest act. This is an action movie that uses real-time to keep everything intense and along with some incredibly crazy sequences, we get a fun time here.

4 – Vin Diesel – Knockaround Guys (2001)

Vin Diesel is the voice of Groot, maybe one of the easiest jobs in Hollywood. He has become a household name thanks to the juggernaut known as the Fast Franchise. Elsewhere, he does have his own pet projects he likes to take a risk on, including his Riddick trilogy.

As we mentioned Vin has never been shy from taking on projects that appeal to him. Some of these movies have worked, while others haven’t. It is his ambition to take chances that keeps us giving his projects a go.

I am going back to 2001 with Knockaround Guys as my pick here. This movie follows a group of mobsters that get themselves in trouble trying to make a name for themselves. The movie also stars Dennis Hopper, John Malkovich, Barry Pepper and Seth Green. It is a slick crime thriller well worth a watch.

5 – Bradley Cooper – The Midnight Meat Train

Bradley Cooper is the most award-decorated star of the Guardians movie. Much like Vin Diesel, he provides a voice, only he has more than 3 words to say. Bradley has been nominated for 9 Oscars across a couple of different categories over the years.

With the award recognition and talent, he has shown over the years, Bradley has been able to pick and choose his projects and his position in the movies. However, before this, he had to earn his reputation and he did. He starred in comedy, horror, and drama, he took on every genre he could.

Midnight Meat Train is one of the many horrors he took on. A violent horror that sees his character following a story about a potential serial killer on the subway. He finds himself getting into more trouble than he imagined. This little horror gem comes from the mind of Clive Barker the man behind Hellraiser.

6 – Karen Gillan – Oculus (2013)

Karen Gillan became a household name thanks to her role in Doctor Who. Her last outing was in 2013 and she jumped into Guardians in 2014. Outside of that major franchise, she did land the Jumanji role too.

Karen hasn’t been afraid of taking on the small movies either. She has had her fair share of genres along the way. recently Next Exit was a shining light, while Gunpowder Milkshake was a lot of fun.

Oculus is the pick for Karen because it is one of the earlier Mike Flanagan movies. It follows siblings trying to prove a supernatural mirror led to their parent’s deaths. However, things start to get out of control when they conduct the experiment.

7 – Pom Klementieff – Ingrid Goes West (2017)

Pom Klementieff is the least famous of the whole cast here. Her role as Mantis means she can get hide behind the make-up. While she has plenty of credits to her name, Spike Lee’s Old Boy stands out the most.

For the one we could be enjoying the most, we have Ingrid Goes West. This is the movie that shows how somebody’s obsession with social media fame can drive them insane. Ingrid Goes West is one of the best comedies of the decade and one everyone can enjoy.

8 – Elizabeth Debicki – Vita & Virginia (2018)

Elizabeth Debicki is one of the newest members of the cast of Guardians. She only appears in a small part of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 and has returned once again. She is most famous for her statuesque height and has one of the smallest filmographies.

Elizabeth has been in some brilliant movies including Widows, Tenet and The Great Gatsby. However, it is Vita & Virginia that I have selected, as it is the one I haven’t seen anyone talk about. The story of a forbidden love story between iconic women and what happened during their affair.

9 – Will Poulter – Son of Rambow (2007)

Will Poulter is a young actor that always manages to get attention for his work. He has often been seen as the scene stealer in movies including We’re the Millers, The Maze Runner, and Midsommar. While it always feels like he has been in a lot more movies, it seems more like he makes an impact in the roles he takes.

Son of Rambow is his acting debut and follows two schoolboys that want to make a movie like First Blood. It is filled with charm as well as touching on the serious subjects involved. The movie follows two schoolboys from different backgrounds needing to put aside the differences their parents have created.

That is 9 Hidden Gems Starring the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 Cast. Which movies have you seen and which ones would you suggest for the stars?

  1. jstar reviews – I love action movies and a great internet debacle. Sci-fi, disaster and horror are also high on my genre list. I'm a female reviewer about four decades old and I believe in subjectivity. Films are not sacred cows. I write in the gonzo style, because why not?
    jstar reviews says:

Son of Rambow is truly great, as is Will P. If you’re up for some tv, The Kettering Incident is interesting for Debicki.
