Story: Alchemy of the Spirit starts when artist Oliver (Berkeley) wakes up in the middle of the night to discover his wife Evelyn (Clarke) has passed away. Oliver gets transported into a world without his wife by his side. One where he starts seeing her for a final series of communications before his time with her running out.

The more time he spends with Evelyn, the more distorted his reality becomes. Seeing him question his own reality in a world without the person he loved the most.

Verdict on Alchemy of the Spirit

Alchemy of the Spirit is an artistic drama following a man dealing with the sudden death of his wife. This sees him making a connection with her spirit as he looks to channel the sudden grief placed upon him. While trying to continue his life as if nothing has happened.

This is a moving movie that gets to show a different view of how sudden loss can hit people. It shows us how the man grieves in a way we haven’t seen before. This ends up having a spiritual feeling that leaves us wanting to spend more time in the world, like Oliver in the movie. It is a lovely story showing the pure love the two have.

Runtime: 2 Hours 11 Minutes

There may be spoilers in the rest of the review

Story: A Journal for Jordan starts when Dana (Adams) decides to turn her ex-boyfriend Charles’ (Jordan) journal into a book. It started out as a message to their son Jordan (Christian) to prepare him for life if Charles never made it back.

Dana looks back on her life with Charles, how they met, fell in love and planned to start their own family. This jumps between before Charles died and after, showing the different life that Dana ended up living.

Verdict on A Journal for Jordan

A Journal for Jordan is a drama based on the real journal left to a son of a fallen soldier. Only it spends most of the film looking back on the relationship he had with his new girlfriend. It is a strange way to tell this story because it is described about the journal left for the son but goes through an uncomfortable meet and greet.

The jump between past and present doesn’t make this easy to keep up with and when it comes to most of the early relationship side of things, it drags along too much. This feels like a story that should be a lot more powerful than what we get, which only ends up leaving us expecting more.

Final Thoughts A Journal for Jordan is a disappointing real-life drama, that gets lost down aimless paths.

Runtime: 1 Hour 27 Minutes

Verdict on The Hatchet Wielding Hitchhiker

The Hatchet Wielding Hitchhiker is a documentary that follows the viral sensation, Kai Lawrence. Becoming an internet sensation following his stopping of a hate crime and giving a colourful interview about what he did. However, he vanishes with only one connection to the world.

This follows TV producers trying to capture him to become the next reality star. However, he proves to be a loose cannon for anyone trying to control him. It doesn’t take long before when people start looking at what he did as being too violently familiar.

This shows us how you never know who somebody truly is, especially if they are a sudden viral sensation. While this documentary shows the people involved in making him a viral sensation. However, it can show how dangerous putting someone in the spotlight can be. This is scary to show how quick people are to put people on a celebrity status without even knowing them.

Where to Watch: The Hatchet Wielding Hitchhiker is available on Netflix.

Final ThoughtsThe Hatchet Wielding Hitchhiker is a disturbing documentary.
