Recap

The movie follows a young butterfly who fled an attack on his home. He returns years later to discover other butterflies who live a more open life. However, the world has a much darker secret that he must help defeat to prove and understand the freedom involved with being a butterfly.

Best Parts

The story has a cruel vision of the world of insects, which can see ideas from ‘A Bug’s Life’. It has the big story of overcoming the past to defeat a bigger enemy who has caused large amounts of pain. Deep down, it is an easy to watch movie, despite the darker tone.

Worst Parts

The darker subject can see this being too dark for the youngest of audience’s members. It also has an animation style that doesn’t look as great as it could do.

Final ThoughtsThe Secret of Butterflies is a fun animation for the older children with a big message.
