Recap

The movie follows a group of college students who conduct a paranormal experiment. However, things go wrong and they begin getting haunted by a spirit trying to escape the afterlife.

Best Parts

The creepy visions create an effective series of scares throughout the movie. We also explore the idea that college experiments go wrong and have a mystery behind why it was started in the first place.

Worst Parts

The movie leans too heavily into the questionable relationship between Marie and Steve, where it seems like they are bad for each other. In the end, it doesn’t seem to commit to the extremes it presents.

Final ThoughtsThe Ritual is a creepy idea that doesn’t commit to the darker side presented.
