Plot: Take from Me, alternatively titled Love Dogs, is a gripping thriller that follows the life of John, a grieving local man, as he finds solace and intrigue in a mysterious young woman who purchases his old farmhouse. Simultaneously, a sense of unease grips the town when a resident goes missing, leading the local police captain to suspect a sinister presence looming over their community.

Story: Take from Me starts when grieving local man John (McDowell) takes an interesting in mysterious stranger Elizabeth (Kennedy). The pair get into an awkward relationship when John discovers a body in her basement. However, John doesn’t know how to handle the discover.

As the two get closer, john discovers the truth about Elizabeth and gets caught up in the unlikely relationship. However, her secrets become more difficult to manage as the local community begin getting closer to her secrets.

The movie follows a grieving man who discovers a mysterious young woman. It sees them start an unlikely relationship as her secrets scare and intrigue him. However, the relationship comes at a price, when others begin checking woman.

Best Parts

The movie explores the unusual relationship between a grieving person and a supernatural person. It uses this to show the pain people are suffering and uses it to show how they cope. We get an interesting journey through their relationship and what it means understanding someone else’s pain. There are strong performances throughout the movie, as the pair explore the outcome of their relationship.

Worst Parts

It can feel slower at times, which holds back the world created for Elizabeth being part of. Yes, there is a tragic past, which drives her motivation, but overall, it doesn’t do enough to show her living this life for a long time.

Final ThoughtsTake from Me is an interesting journey through a lifetime of grief.
