Story: Thinestra begins when videographer Penny (Macedo) struggles with her dietary needs in an attempt to lose weight. She has tried a few different methods but falls for temptations. However, she meets one of the models who offers her a new weight-loss pill.
Penny discovers the pill works wonders, and she can keep the same diet. However, there is a side effect she wasn’t expecting: a blood-thirsty doppelganger. She loses control of her doppelganger, creating a solution to her daily problems.
Verdict on Thinestra

The movie follows a woman trying to lose weight through different dietary plans. However, her attempts are coming up short, leading her to take a drastic step for the next attempt. Meanwhile, it causes side effects she wasn’t expecting.
Best Parts
The movie uses the desperate need to find ways to lose weight with a new twist dietary pill. It portrays the culture of perfection, which consumes Penny’s life. There are twisted moments with what is unleashed, leading to uncomfortable moments. We get moments which are similar to The Substance, which shows that body image is the most important thing. We get great performances too, with the transformation taking over.
Worst Parts
It does have similarities to The Substance; it has shock value, but it is nearly impossible to get close to the level that movie achieved. The direction it takes is strange and leaves a supernatural effect, which doesn’t get the shock it could have.
Final Thoughts –Thinestra is a shocking, disturbing spiral through desperation.
