Story: The Party’s Just Beginning starts as Liusaidh (Gillan) is struggling in the aftermath of her best friend Alistair’s (Beard) suicide. She spends her evenings drinking to deal with the pain and the boredom of her day job. Liusaidh finds each day a struggle and wonders why she couldn’t notice the problems Alistair was going through.
As Liusaidh starts trying to figure out what is next in her life, she meets a handsome stranger Dale (Pace). He has his own problems, and the unusual relationship sees the pair helping each other through their struggles.

The Party’s Just Beginning is a comedy-drama following a young woman struggling in the aftermath of her best friend’s suicide. She has no idea how to cope and whether it was her own fault. As her life continues to fall apart around her, she must figure out what is next for her life.
This is a powerful drama showing the guilt of loved ones in the aftermath of suicide. It highlights how difficult their lives have become when they don’t know whether they could have done more. However, it does show how not everyone around them could understand their struggle. There is a massive importance about understanding depression and being aware of the little things you can do to help. Karen Gillan excels in this movie, leading, directing and writing.
