Best Parts

This does a great job of exploring a small-town mystery and how the mysteries between unexplained events cause problems. The idea that this mystery has continued to grow over the years, shows the problems being created. It explores different theories and addresses the problems with the criminal justice system.

Worst Parts

While the mystery is interesting, it doesn’t seem like it has enough to reach the levels for a film. There are small mysteries like this all over the world and this feels like one only a very small community talk about.

Story: The Lady of the Lake starts as we meet Jamie (Sioux) whose brother went missing on the lake one year ago. Her father Adam (Gilliam) has struggled with the year and his wife Mia (McArthur) has had a breakdown.

Jamie wants to address the legend of the lake, which has held the power of the residents for generations. It is said that a spirit of a woman takes young men and Jamie’s brother was one of the victims. However, the investigation uncovers some uncomfortable truths about the origin of the legend.

The Lady of the Lake is a mystery following a local community that suffers a tragedy related to a legend of the local area. One year later the sister of the victim looks for answers, which sees her learning more about the mystery behind the legend.

This movie dives into community legends and understanding traditions which could bring more people together. It highlights the dangers the legend presents and how people should respect the history of the area they live in. This does create some creepy moments, but never seems to dive into the full horror behind the legend. It ends up focusing more on the aftermath and wanting to learn more and even stop it from coming back again. This is an easy watch, without hitting any of the truly frightening levels it could have.
