Thoughts on Lucky

Characters & Performances – May is an author of business books that has seen her latest work receive negative reactions. She is happily married, but after an attack in their home, she is left alone after disagreeing with her husband about what is going on. She must figure out how to stop an intruder that comes into their home, when every time she does, the body vanishes. She must figure out what is happening to move on with her life. Brea Grant is great in this leading role, showing the tough fighter, who uses the brain to fight over just weapons. The Man is the intruder that appears in May’s home, he is trying to attack and kill her, before vanishing, returning another time. While we aren’t meant to learn much about this character, the mystery is the main plot of the film. May is the main character, the supporting character are part of her life, each person is trying to help react to the problems she is facing.

Story – The story here follows a woman that finds herself being stalked by an intruder in her home and every time she fights them off, she can’t find the body, with them returning again, with no explanation on their attack. This is a very interesting story, which could well have got inspiration from ‘Happy Death Day’ while putting its own stamp on it. It does have the idea that repeating style, which will add all the mystery to the story. I feel the story is one that you will need to put you own feeling on what is going on, which could have a bigger message to society. However, it doesn’t seem to give us a full answer, that might leave people feeling flat by the ending.

Themes – Lucky is a horror slasher movie that isn’t afraid to hold back on the fights between killer and victim, but has a sci-fi style twist on how the killer keeps coming back. We might not get full stalker mode involved in the horror, but we will be kept waiting to see how the first attack will occur.

Lucky is an enjoyable horror slasher that brings a fresh twist on dealing with an indestructible killer.

Thoughts on Lucky

Characters – Lucky is an elderly man lonely man that has been going through a similar routine for years now, he knows everybody in his small town and when alone he spends time watching quiz shows, he hasn’t really planned for the next stage of his life, which he starts to see his friends do, he must decide to plan for his future before it is too late. Howard is Lucky’s best friends, he owes a tortoise that is named after presidents and is the one that is planning for more in his life once he is gone. Bobby Lawrence is the lawyer that has been helping the locals figure out their futures, he always tries to explain just how important it will be

Performances – Harry Dean Stanton in the leading role is fantastic, he gives a performance that is filled with pain and sympathy, making him the true start of the show. We do have a nice supporting cast which includes big names from the acting world that are all good through the film.

Story – The story here follows the days of an elderly man that live sin a small town that finally gets to realize that his own mortality isn’t going to be around much longer. This is a sweet little story that shows that elderly people could well be in denial about how much longer they will be around, it shows how the town will always be close to each other willing to help, banter and just check up on each other. This doesn’t have much more to the story, it is simple and friendly which is all we needed to see.

Comedy – The comedy in the film comes from the everyday life that the people are going through, laughing at certain little things happening in life.

Settings – The film keeps us in a small little town, which just shows how close the people in the town are.

Scene of the Movie – The fiesta.

That Moment That Annoyed Me – Not much happens in the story.

Final Thoughts – This is a nice little story that shows us real life, rather than giving us anything too deep with how an older man feels.

Overall: Nice and Sweet.
