Story: The Blob starts when Steve (McQueen) and Jane (Corsaut) see their date interrupted by a falling object from the sky. They go to investigate the object only to find an Old Man (Howland) covered in some form of goo. After they race to the local Dr Hallen (Chase), they look to investigate more.

Meanwhile, the goo starts to consume anything it comes in contact with. This sees the Old Man and Doctor vanish and Lt Dave (Rowe) needing to investigate as Steve looks to prove what he saw was real. As the goo starts to spread, the town sees itself as needing to fight back against an unknown threat.

Verdict on The Blob

The Blob is a horror sci-fi movie following a small town that gets attacked by an unknown threat from space. It follows one man trying to convince the town they are in danger and need to fight back to stop the residents from being consumed.

This is one of the vintage horrors from the 1950s that used the fear of what could be in space to drive things forward. It shows the small-town panic that can consume the town and how nobody wants to believe the problems they are facing. The movie is one that is most famous for being one of the first Steven McQueen movies too.

Final Thoughts – The Blob is a classic horror B-movie, capturing the small-town insecurities.

Story: The Revenge of Frankenstein starts when Baron Frankenstein (Cushing) escapes his execution.  He changed his name to Victor Stein and set up a new medical practice in a small village. Dr Stein has made the wrong type of waves though, with fellow doctors being against his methods.

Doctor Hank Kleve (Matthews) turns to Victor, wanting to learn from him becoming his assistant. Meanwhile, Victor continues his plan to bring transport a mind to a new body. This leads to the question, will the same side effects happen again?

Verdict on The Revenge of Frankenstein

The Revenge of Frankenstein is the first sequel in the Hammer Horror collection of Frankenstein movies. It sees Victor looking to continue his experiments after escaping the death penalty. He puts together a new team and starts to conduct his experiments again.

This is a sequel that continues to show the dark desires of Victor Frankenstein. However, it doesn’t seem to do much to create anything remotely terrifying with his creations. This ends up being another movie just thrown into the collection offering nothing much more. In the end, this is largely a forgettable addition to the Frankenstein franchise.
