Verdict on Spectrum
Spectrum is a drama following an autistic man Steve (Stanton) as he navigates everyday life. He is a fan of superheroes and dreams of being one. Meanwhile, his support worker (Mosaku) runs a group to help them understand what it is to have a job. However, Steve faces struggles in everyday life, from finding a job to doing basic shopping. It sinks him into a depression that his friends do their best to bring him out of, but deep down it is destroying him.
This movie shows the daily struggles of people who have autism suffer through in silence at times. It highlights how they are treated differently and other people can struggle to understand the differences. There is a social discuss and it appeals to something needing to change in how everyone is accepted equally. The leading performance from Steven Stanton is brilliant.
Final Thoughts – Spectrum is an important, brilliant and awareness driving movie.
