Thoughts on Operation Wolf Hound

Characters & Performances

Captain David Holden is a Jewish American looking for a fight in World War II. Being part of the fighter pilots on mission to get behind enemy lines. He sees his team shot down, before he takes down the enemy planes. Before he gets shot down himself, landing in the woodland area alone behind enemy lines. David must elude capture as he searches for survivors. Leading his own rescue mission in a battle to stop a devastating weapon being used by the Germans.

Major Erich Roth is the German pilot that David shots down. He is hunting through the woods to capture him wanting revenge for taking out his friends. Finding himself needing to prove himself to the Colonel.

When we dive into the supporting cast, we have the other captured pilots who have their own plan to try and escape. While trying to survive the imprisonment they find themselves in, along with the German soldier with their own plans to complete the mission.

James Maslow in the leading role does a great job as the pilot fighting for everything, often left alone to deal with enemies. Trevor Donovan brings the psychopathic German pilot to life, one that you can see is unhinged by the war. The supporting cast does a good job too, bringing the bond between the captured soldiers to life.

Story

The story here follows an American pilot that is shot down behind enemy lines, needing to first survive. Searching for his crew and finally stop the German Trojan horse taking a bomb to England. Using a capture American bomber. Operation Wolf Hound will dive into that America will save the day during every war. While sending the events of the movie down the road of an over-the-top action movie, over the military historical story.

The idea that the Nazis used the trojan horse idea to complete missions is something we could have seen a lot more from. Outside of this, we have a completely by the books war movie. That will do everything needed to put the clear lines between the two sides in the conflict.

Themes

Operation Wolf Hound uses the dog fights for the action side of the movie. Which will get to showcase the different planes involved. The ground battles are the typical against the odds conflict that the Americans will look to prove themselves as the best soldiers. Where the movie is over 2 hours long. Certain captive scenes and search through the woods, take away the suspense wanted to be created in the movie.

Signature Entertainment presents Operation: Wolf Hound on Digital Platforms 4th July and DVD 25th July.
