Story: In the Lost Lands starts when the Queen (Okereke) turns to the powerful sorceress Gray Alys (Jovovich) to locate a magical power. She wants a shapeshifter, and the only place to find one is in a world away from the living. Gray teams up with drifter and guide Boyce (Bautista), whose reputation for travelling the Lost Lands makes him the best person to guide her.
The two must race against time to find what they are looking for. However, The Enforcer (Jover) is hunting Gray too, meaning the pair will face unknown threats trying to stop them from completing their mission.
Verdict on In the Lost Lands
Recap
The movie follows a sorceress and a drifter travelling the barren lands searching for a shapeshifter. They want to escape capture from a ruthless general to give the remaining people hope for a better future.
Best Parts
The idea of a bleak future with monsters in the shadows and humans in one big city is interesting. It might not show the whole world, but each location feels like life could have been there. We can’t fault the ambitious in the story and the world. While the story is more of a safer concept, it is carried by Dave Bautista and Milla Jovovich’s chemistry on the journey.
Worst Parts
It is hard not to see this as a supernatural vision of Mad Max with a sprinkle of Fallout. However, it doesn’t do enough to stand out with the interesting concept. The movie doesn’t quite match the story’s ambition either.
Final Thoughts –In the Lost Lands struggle to match the ambition.
