Verdict: Unused Potential

Story: Human Zoo starts as we see how a producer (Carradine) has set up a new reality television idea, one where a select group of people take part in a contest which involves them being locked in solitary confinement in what they believe to be one day, with the prize of one million dollars.

As the day turns into days, the behaviour of the contestants take different directions of trying to deal with the environment before showing them begging to being released from their prisons

Thoughts on Human Zoo

Story – The story here follows the contestants dealing with the troubles of isolations, we see how each person reacts differently becoming more uncomfortable with the length of time they are locked away. The story struggles because we are torn between trying to make this look like a reality show, though we don’t get to follow anyone long enough to understand who they are. We jump between the numerous characters which because we have such a number of different contestants. This is a story you feel could work well, only it ends up just being each character shouting, screaming or crying about what is happening, going against what it seems the idea would be, the study of dealing with isolation.

Horror – The horror comes from seeing how the characters are trying to deal with each moment of the isolation, only they just don’t seem to get anywhere with it, it doesn’t come off horrific in anyway.

Settings – The film uses the settings to show the contestants in their small confined area, it does make everything look grim for the characters.

That Moment That Annoyed Me – Too many characters.

Final Thoughts – This is a horror that could have used the potential very well, only for it to get bogged down in a massive cast that just doesn’t seem to get going in the film.

Overall: Disappointing.
