Story: H4Z4RD starts as we meet street-smart Noah Hazard (Thivaios). Noah loves his car, his girlfriend Lea (Heylen) and his daughter Zita. He looks to go about a day with his cousin Carlos (Perceval), which goes terribly wrong after a robbery sees Noah needing to use his driving skills to escape.
Noah’s day doesn’t get any better when he finds himself needing to make a difficult decision in life. Save his car, his daughter, or his family.
Verdict on H4Z4RD
Noah loves to drive his car around town, using it to escort his girlfriend and daughter around. He also does odd jobs, anything to keep him behind the wheel of the car. This day takes a turn for him, as his gambling side comes out and the routine job goes wrong. Noah is left racing around the city to clear up his mess and save his family.
Carlos is Noah’s cousin who is fresh out of prison and has lined up a job for them. He is reckless, which has left them in trouble, but his crazy actions will often come in helpful to get out of trouble.
Lea and Zita are Noah’s family that he must keep his troubles secret from and look to save when the troubles catch up with him.
Dimitri Thivaios in the leading role is great, he keeps a calm presence through the different sequences. He shows his character trying to be cool, without being at the level he thinks he is at. In the supporting cast, we have solid performances, most notably Jeroen Perceval as the loose cannon cousin.
The story follows a man that must decide what is most important to him after a job goes wrong. He needs to drive around town to fix the mistake if he is ever going to save his family.
This story feels like many others we have seen before, using a day time frame to get a job done, with each moment making things worse. It keeps the pace going nicely, as everything becomes more dangerous as there is more to clear up.
The weakness here comes from the fact everything feels a lot safer than expected. Nothing feels like we are in a real threat until late into the movie and not everything feels as nicely wrapped up by the end either.
H4Z4RD is an action comedy that follows a street-smart driver trying to fix his day, usually with a comedic moment or two. This is a strange choice for ‘Frightfest’ as there is no horror involved, for an action film it is fine, you can enjoy it. The different locations offer different problems for the character to overcome as not everything is as expected for him.
Final Thoughts – H4Z4RD is an enjoyable action movie with some fun driving sequences.
