Writer: James Ward Byrkit (Screenplay) James Ward Byrkit, Alex Manugian (Story)
Starring: Emily Foxler, Maury Sterling, Nicholas Brendon, Elizabeth Gracen, Alex Manugian, Lauren Maher, Hugo Armstrong, Lorene Scafaria
Plot: On the night of an astronomical anomaly, eight friends at a dinner party experience a troubling chain of reality bending events. Part cerebral sci-fi and part relationship drama, COHERENCE is a tightly focused, intimately shot film that quickly ratchets up with tension and mystery.
Verdict: Brain Twisting Thriller
Story: When a film really makes you think I personally have to give it a good score, don’t get me wrong I do like a film that will let me relax, but sometimes you need to think. This film will make you think, think some more and then get confused, while still trying to make you think. I think I understood what happened, but I may re-watch just to be sure. There is no way you should go in thinking this will be easy to watch, you will get very annoyed but if you want to be challenged by a story this is very good for that. (9/10)
Actor Review
Emily Foxler: Em the main character who is invited to the party along with her boyfriend (I think, could be fiancée) Kevin, she is long-time friend of the host. Once things start getting strange she is one of the first to try and make something of it. (7/10)
Maury Sterling: Kevin partner to Em who has a previous relationship with another guest Laurie, he tries to keep everything together and offers ideas to what could actually be going on. (6/10)
Nicholas Brendon: Mike the host of the party and former actor whose drinking problems have left him where he is now in his career. Mike is the most aggressive of the people who wants to use violence to try and figure out what is happening. (7/10)
Every actor gives a good performance and does what the role requires without exceling or taking the characters to the next level.
Director Review: James Ward Byrkit – Good direction to create a real mind bender of a film. (9/10)
Sci-Fi: The sci-fi side of this story really makes you think. (8/10)
Thriller: You will want to know what will happen next from start to finish. (9/10)
Settings: Great use for setting making everything happen in one house and it surrounding area because of the story each house is actually the same. (9/10)
Suggestion: This is one for any of the thinking thriller fans out there, you watch this and you will be left scratching your head. (Thriller Fans Watch)
Best Part: Em’s journey.
Worst Part: Will test casual fans too much
Believability: No (0/10)
Chances of Tears: No (0/10)
Chances of Sequel: No
Post Credits Scene: No
Similar Too: Triangle
Oscar Chances: No
Runtime: 1 Hour 29 Minutes
Overall: Mind Bending Thriller
