Plot: When a young girl and her family move, she yearns for a sense of belonging in her new home. She finds it when she joins her school’s cheerleading squad. Inspired by her newfound love and dedication for the sport, her adoptive father comes out for support and is soon recruited as the assistant coach. As the father and daughter grow together, they’ll see if they have what it takes to win the championship.

Story: Cheer Dad starts when Patrick (Perez-Ross), Jennifer (Cleary) and their children Anna (Lezama) and __ () move to a new town. Anna quickly gets drawn into the cheerleading squad. However, Patrick is the only one who can spare time to support her dream.
Patrick puts everything on hold to support Anna and keep things together with his work and family life. However, it begins taking a strain on his relationship and work. He shows the sacrifice he must make for family and how the dreams of the children are important for family.

The movie follows a family who relocate and the father takes a role coaching his daughter’s cheerleading team. He wants to make sure she can chase her dream, but it takes a toll on his personal & professional life.
Best Parts
The movie highlights the daily struggles of working a full-time job and helping a child chase a dream. It shows the reality a parent gives up any time for themselves to keep their family together. The performances are strong and the light comedy throughout the film works nicely.
Worst Parts
While the focus in on the cheerleading side of the family life, it almost ignores the requirement for the son’s sporting dreams and never truly explains why the wife doesn’t want to support or have any reaction to the extra effort the father puts in.
