Been Here Stay Here – Festival News
Acclaimed documentarian David Usui’s observational wonder BEEN HERE STAY HERE shows a community reconciling faith with the science of climate change; Official selection of IDFA (International Documentary Festival Amsterdam), Nov. 14th -24th, 2024
Visually arresting and inspired by the masters of Cinema Verité, veteran documentarian David Usui (IN TRANSIT, helmed in collaboration with Direct Cinema legend Albert Maysles), BEEN HERE STAY HERE shows a community reconciling faith with the science of climate change, presented with a clarion, observational precision that engages and informs, with a visually arresting cinematic palette.
As the rising seas encroach upon their shores, the residents of Tangier Island—a close-knit Christian fishing community—find themselves at a poignant crossroads. Their centuries-old way of life, sustained by faith and the rhythms of the Chesapeake Bay, is now threatened by a climate crisis that could force them to leave the only home they have ever known.
