Guillermo del Toro is one of the best directors around, he has the ability to create such an interesting dark fantasy world. He has made the jump to American cinema with some mega budget films but many of his fans will remember his original work. I am going to look at my favourite films he has directed Against Emma

This comic book adaptation shows how a small demon child has grown into a secret defender of humanity for the government.  This is another fun film with its sequel just as fun.

2. Pan’s Labyrinth (2006)2

I think this would be most people’s number one, this is a classic and with it 3 Oscar wins shows it really is a special film. It is a dark fairy tale that is a must watch.

1. The Devil’s Backbone (2001)1

I think this is one of the best ghost stories I have ever seen, such a beautifully shot film that ticks all the boxes without being an over the top jump scare heavy ghost story.
