Top 5 Chiwetel Ejiofor Roles

Chiwetel Ejiofor has 39 credits to his name according to IMDB; He made his screen debut in a supporting role of Steven Spielberg’s Amistad before going onto an Oscar nomination this year for 12 Years A Slave to which he did take home the Best Actor from BAFTA. Today I am looking at my favourite roles of his and like always these are my favourites not necessarily the best performance.

5. Peter – Love Actually (2003)

Peter is one of the many characters in this romantic comedy, Peter gets married to the love of his life, but his best man has always loved her. This is only a small role but he gives plenty of motivation for the characters involved in his story.

4. Ensign Covey – Amistad (1997)

Ensign is part of the British Navy who helps translate between Cinque and Roger Baldwin in a quest to get the capture men released. Another supporting role but for a debut performance he really looked like he was meant to be on the big screen next to the heavyweight actors who are also in this film.

3. Adrian Helmsley – 2012 (2009) Review

Adrian is a scientist who believes that something big is going to happen to the world, he was fully correct but the timing was off. This may well be a full blown Blockbuster with very simple storyline but this is a very enjoyable film.

2. Solomon Northup – 12 Years A Slave (2013) Review

Solomon is the free man sold into slavery and we follow him strive for the freedom that is his own. This was Oscar nominated performance and easily the best of his career.

1. The Operative – Serenity (2005) Review

The emotionless Operative is hunting down Mal and his crew, he is ruthless and will do anything to get his man. He believes in honour and lets people involved in hiding or making mistakes have a chance of a honourable death. I pick this as my number one as it is always hard to create a real memorable villain and this is one that never goes out his comfort zone.

Honourable Mentions

  • Luke – Children Of Men
  • Detective Bill Mitchell – Inside Man
