Verdict

Action: Resident Evil are always good for action and this one doesn’t disappoint one bit, numerous fight scenes, gun fights and even a few car chases.  (10/10)

Horror: takes some of the horror out and replaces it with the action not as scary as it could be (6/10)

Sci-Fi: in a world of the future with technology and monsters that could only come from the future, who needs space for sci-fi? (8/10)

Special Effects: Another film to take on the 3D ideas show lots of stuff being thrown into your face along with some very impressive creature creations. (9/10)

Settings: Without giving too much away there are some very good setting most of which we have seen before but add up well to the overall story the franchise has created, (9/10)

Suggestion: Still back relax and enjoy the ride much like the other in the franchise this is good fun, it won’t win awards but it will keep you entertained all the way through. (9/10)

Best Part: Car chase through Moscow

Worst Part: Just to be picky would be nice to keep some of the support characters from film to film.

Star Performance Milla Jovovich

Favourite Character Leon S. Kennedy

Trivia: one for the gamers this is the first time Leon and Jill have ever met in the series video game or film.

Overall: An all out action film that never slows down, simply put this is the best in the franchise so far and after the last two films that haven’t lived up to the first two this is a welcome return to the top. Just sit back and enjoy this one is just fun.

Starship Troopers 3 Marauder (2008)

Director: Edward Neumeier

Writer: Edward Neumeier

Starring: Casper Van Dien, Jolene Blalock, Stephen Hogan, Boris Kodjoe, Amanda Donohoe, Marnette Patterson.

Story: The war on the bugs continues and at the front of the fight Johnny Rico (Van Dien) returning from the original. Johnny is in charge of key base when a visit from Sky Marshal Omar Anoke (Hogan) brings back old friends in Captain Lola Beck (Blalock) and General Dix Hauser (Kodjoe). Things take a turn for the worse when the bugs get into the base causing major causalities and Johnny is held responsible and sentenced for death.

On the flight home the Sky Marshal ship is thrown out of warp speed and has to be evacuated leaving Captain Beck, Sky Marshall and four other stranded on a bug planet. Determined to save them Hauser arranges a mission with Johnny and lead to save them using the new Marauder equipment. Can Johnny save the day and help continue the war against the bugs?

Verdict: The third instalment of these movies is easily the second best but also nowhere near the standard of the original. The inclusion of Johnny Rico the lead from the first one is a big plus and this has the feel of the real sequel to the first one. This is the director first feature film but his involvement in the first one and other films from that director has help him understand the almost tongue in check nature of the new articles which give nice break to the action and seriousness of the story. After the second Starship Troopers turned out so bad many people may over look this one but this should be looked at if you were a fan of the original.

Story Mark 8/10 Continues the hunt for victory in the war against the bugs well.

Action Mark 7/10 Mostly tamed down from the original still has some nice scenes.

Character Development Mark 6/10 Not the best but Sky Marshall has a good story unfold.

Special Effects Mark 7/10 Not the best but lower budget had effect on this.

Star Performances: Stephen Hogan as Sky Marshall makes for good viewing through out.

Favourite Character: Sky Marshall as he is a bit over the edge in the head.

Poor Performance: Casper Van Dien just clearly here for the money after his career when down hill.

Least Favourite Character: Holly (Patterson) the character got a bit annoying after a while not saying she did a bad job just sometime when you watch a group of people getting picked off you start feeling when is it her turn.

Best Part: Follows the original start well.

Worst Part: Cheaply made, bigger budget would have deserved a bigger budget

Resident Evil: Afterlife (2010)

Director: Paul W.S. Anderson
Writer: Paul W.S. Anderson
Starring: Milla Jovovich, Ali Larter, Kim Coates, Shawn Roberts, Sergio Peris-Mencheta, SPencer Locke, Boris Kodjoe, Wentworth Miller, Kacey Barrifield, Norman Young

Story Alice (Milla Jovovich) takes her battle against the Umbrella Cooperation to new levels by invading one of the underground facilities lead by Wesker (Shawn Roberts). After somehow escaping she heads of the Alaska to meet up with the party of people she set there including Claire Redfield (Ali Larter) and K-Mart (Spencer Locke). She finds nothings but a airplane graveyard before getting attacked by a brain washed Claire.

Alice finds a plane that work and set off looking for more survivors with Claire tied up trying to refuel her memory. Once they reach Hollywood they find some survivors on the roof of a prison surrounded by the undead. After an ambitious landing we meet the survivors. Lead by Luther West (Boris Kodjoe) we have Bennett (Kim Coates), Angel Oritz (Sergio Peris Mencheta), Crystal (Kacey Barnfield) Kim Yong (Norman Yeung) and Wendell (Fulvio Cecere). We also meet a favourite of the game series Chris Redfield (Wentworth Miller).

With the undead starting to break the barriers a super mutant Axeman leading this attack can our heroes get help from a near by boat with the same signal which lead Alice to Alaska?

Verdict This is one of the better sequels too the video game franchise to movie. Alice kick ass again learning more about her powers along the way. The introduction of more of the video game characters proves this franchise is still going strong. The 3D side of the film is bought off well throwing all sorts of things into the audience. Overall this is a good action horror well worth a watch for all fans.

Best quote Wesker ‘I’m what you used to be. Only Better’

Favourite character Alice because she keep coming and kicking ass

Stand out performance Shawn Roberts as Wesker strong performance and no emotional villain

Best moment Opening army of Alice breaking into the Umbrella cooperation

Worst Moment Killing off the supporting cast way to quickly

Cameo Alert Jill Valentine can be seen if you watch the credits
