Top 10 Anticipated Movies of 2016

I like to start the year looking at the top 10 films I am looking forward to each year and after last year I have come to turns looking forward to films usually makes them bad, I had the awful Minions and below average Jupiter Ascending, Tomorrowland, Avengers Age of Ultron and Terminator Genesys, not to mention that two of the films hadn’t come out by the time I wrote this. So this year I am going to try again but this time I am not including Batman V Superman or Captain American Civil War.

10. X-Men: Apocalypsexmen

I did enjoy the first time outing for this crime heist magic thriller and I am looking forward to what they bring us this time around.

8. The Forestforrest

7. Central Intelligencecentral intillgence

The Rock and Kevin Hart in a comedy this will be the perfect buddy cop film of the year.

6. Pride and Prejudice and Zombiespride

The title is what is winning me over here, I don’t care if this film is terrible I will be watching this one.

5. Passengers

While we only know the plot we do get an interesting one at that, as we follow a lone traveller on an interstellar transport that gets awoken early and is destine to grow old and die alone where he opens the door to second passenger.

4. Snowdensnwden

Looking it the life of one of the most infamous people in current history is one that has got me very intrigued.

3. Suicide Squadsuicide squad

While I am not interested in following the heroes, the villains on the other hand are what is interesting me a lot and this all-star cast could pull of the best comic book film of the year.

2. Deadpooldeadpool

When the original Deadpool character got messed up so much in X-Men Origins Wolverine we ended up getting this one that is going to be the adult comic book film everyone wants.

1.       Independence Day: Resurgenceresrugence

When I first heard about this film I was not interested, then I saw the trailer and this is my first choice for a film to watch this year.

Top 10 Favourite Matt Damon Roles

Matt Damon has become on of the biggest names in Hollywood today he has 72 credits to his name and one Oscar win for writing though he has been nominated for two acting Oscars but has yet to take home the trophy. I simply couldn’t pick just five favourite performances so I went with top 10.

10. Rudy Baylor – The Rainmaker (1997)rainmaker

This John Grisham adaptation follows a young lawyer who goes against an insurance company. This early role when Grisham films were very popular is one people ignore but rally is a special one.

9. Loki – Dogma (1998)dogma

Loki along with his best friend and fellow fallen angel Bartleby go a mission to go and re-enter heaven which could bring about the next apocalypse.

8. David Norris – The Adjustment Bureau (2011)adjustment

David lives a normal life while running for political office but when he meets a girl who isn’t part of his planned future he discovers that there is a team of people planning his future and every move he makes. I love this sci-fi because it question whether things could be real or not.

7. SPC Ilario – Courage Under Fire (1996)courage under fire

This very early role showed just how far Matt would go for a look in a role even if it is just a supporting role.

6. Colin Sullivan – The Departed (2006)departd

Colin is the undercover mole inside the FBI working for the mobster against Billy on the other side of the fence. Matt gives a great performance and compared to the rest of the cast is easily one of the better performers in the film.

5. Tom Ripley – The Talented Mr Ripley (1999)ripley

This all star cast follows Tom Ripley as he continues to use his life of fraud while showing a darker side throughout the film hidden behind his charm.

4. Jason Bourne – Bourne Trilogybourne

Jason is the trained spy who has lost his memory and as he looks to learn about himself he learns that he has been targeted for elimination leaving him to use all his skills to out smart his enemies.

3. Linus Caldwell – Ocean’s Trilogylinus

Linus is the pickpocket who joins Danny Ocean’s team in a string of heists. I really enjoy this role because it ends up stealing the film next to the bigger stars.

2. Mike McDermott – Rounders (1998)rounders

As a poker fan I enjoy this role as Mike a skilled poker player has to go back into the underworld to help his best friend pay off his debts from ruthless poker player.

1. Will Hunting – Good Will Hunting (1997)hunting

Will is the genius working basic jobs until he gets inspired but college professor Sean Maguire and his best friend Chuckie. This is one of the best films of the year of release and all the Oscar it won shows why.

Top 10 Favourite Arnold Schwarzenegger Roles

Arnold Schwarzenegger is arguable the biggest name in action film history, we have seen him rise from body builder to 80’s sensation to Governor. He is an icon from the movies that will always be remember for his on liners that have become popular culture. ‘I’ll Be Back’ will be the most iconic. I simply couldn’t cut this down to top 5 so I will use the top 10 format.

10. Gordy Brewer – Collateral Damage (2002)gordy

Gordy is a fire fighter whose family are killed in a terrorist attack, they end up being considered Collateral Damage. Gordy ends up going after the terrorist group solo seeking revenge. This ended up almost getting forgotten and ends up being one everyone should go back and give a go, this was also the last major film before his political career.

9. Jericho Cane – End Of Days (1999)jericho

Jericho goes up against the devil who wants to come back to Earth on the strike of the new millennium. I liked this one because it starts to bring Arnold into a serious role in action.

8. Dr Alex Hesse – Junior (1994)alex

Alex and his partner are working on experiement on a fertility project but after losing the funding he decides to use it on himself making himself pregnant. This is the best comedy of Arnold’s career with perfect partnership with Danny DeVito.

7. Harry Tasker – True Lies (1994)harry

Harry is a spy who is suffering with marriage problem so he has to solve his problems and save the world all at once. This could easily be the most perfect film on this list but I have only seen once.

6.John Matrix – Commando (1985)matrix

John Matrix has to save his daughter after she is kidnapped by an old friend, John uses all his skills to get her back and shows his dark side.

5. Wade Vogel – Maggie (2015)wade

Wade is struggling as his daughter is turning into a zombie, he gets to spend time before she turns in what is easily Arnold’s best performance of his career, even if the story is darker and not as fun this is a surprise that has to be watched.

4. Ben Richards – Running Man (1987)ben

Ben Richards is a cop that gets framed leading him to have to enter the deadly Running Man competition for television entertainment. This is a Stephen King adaptation that is easily by biggest guilty pleasure.

3.Dutch – Predator (1987)dtch

Dutch is the leader of military unit in the jungle who end up coming up against a deadly predator from another world. I have always loved this film and it really made the human vs alien idea work to a new level.

2. Terminator – The Terminator Franchise (1984-2015)termintor

Terminator is easily the most iconic character ever played by Schwarzenegger and has ranged over 30 years. This has the most iconic lines of his career ‘I’ll Be Back’.

1. Douglas Quaid/ Hauser –Total Recall (1990)quaid

Douglas starts as a happily married man whose goes for a holiday only to find a memory block which leads to him going to find the truth. I think this is almost the most popular because the film is just brilliant and fun which is what you would always say about Schwarzenegger.

Top 10 Favourite Trilogies

We all love a good trilogy and we have had some classics but we have also had some that have fallen from grace. Today I am going to pick the ones I enjoy watching the most which doesn’t mean I think they are the overall best but most enjoyable. I am also going to only focus on the first three of any series so if they do end up having addition I am ignoring them. I had to make this a top 10 but I still managed to miss out some of the most popular ones.

10. Hatchet (2006 – 2013)hatchet

This would come off as an unusual choice because it is a straight to DVD horror series but in the end it is good at delivering what is says blood and gore. We follow groups of people trying to stop the legend of Victor Crowley who terrorises the swamps in New Orleans. He is unstoppable because he regenerates overnight making the horror start again. This may only appeal to the horror fans out there but it is one of my guilty pleasures in horror.

9. Jurassic Park (1993 – 2001)jurassic park

When Jurassic Park came out it was a mega success and with the second one The Lost World was also great, we might forget the final part of the series but with the first two parts being that good we can’t take this out of any best trilogy lists. I also think this does contain the worst film of any on this list.

8. Fast & Furious – Fast 6 (2009 – 2013)fast

This is the only series that I think improved once we got to number 4, it stops taking itself too seriously and just lets the ideas fly out. These three films have had the most ridiculous chase moments in film history including the everlasting runway and tank flying. They are pure fun and have to get a mention even if the very Fast and Furious is considered the best by the diehard fans.

7. Hannibal Lecter (1991 – 2002)hecter

When we first saw Hannibal Lecter in in The Silence of the Lambs Anthony Hopkins made the character one of the most must watch character even if he is one of the most disturbing in film history. What follows was a sequel with Hannibal on the run and a prequel where we first see how Hannibal helped catch serial killers. When you put all three together we get one of the best detective based trilogies of all time.

6. Of the Dead (1968 – 1985)night of

Night, Dawn and Day all put a different group of survivors in a different position against the undead zombies, each story tells a different overall story that reflects certain aspects on life. They paved the way for the zombie idea which has gone onto be one of the most used horror ideas around.

5. Toy Story (1995 – 2010)toy

What can I say that hasn’t been said about this series of films that hasn’t already been talked about, this is one of the best family friendly series of film out there that have hardly aged a day. I personally think these get better as the go along too.

4. Dark Knight (2005 – 2012)knight

When Christopher Nolan got his hands on this franchise no one could imagine what we ended up getting. We got three of the best comic book films of all time we villainous performance that will live long in the memory. Many people see the highlight of the series being Heath Ledger’s Joker which is wildly considered the best in recent years.

3. Indiana Jones (1981 – 1989)indiana

The original tomb raider whose three adventures through the 80s became three of the best action adventure films of all time. We have some of the most iconic scenes in cinema and it is known that these films helped bring in a different age restriction rating for all of us fans.

2. Back to the Future (1985 – 1990)back

Marty McFly, DeLorean and Doc Brown all going at 88mph, these are the iconic parts of the sci-fi adventure film. This is high up on my list because it was one of the first I ever saw and it still remains one of my favourite because it still looks good now. This is one set of films that I feel everyone should see too.

1. Star Wars Original Saga (1977 – 1983)star

When it comes to sci-fi I don’t think many films got the attention these did when they first came out, there are many quotable lines that people still quote today. I was never a fan of the second trilogy though because these were so stand out they will never be forgotten.
