Story: Lonesome starts as we meet country lad Casey (Lavery) who finds himself in Sydney. Not used to the big city, he finds himself meeting Tib (Gabriel) as the pair become lovers. The pair find themselves working in the community as Casey learns to adapt to the big city.

When Casey’s past starts to catch up with him, he finds himself in a much more dangerous world of meeting men. This becomes much more dangerous than Casey was ever willing to expect.

Verdict on Lonesome

Lonesome is a raw drama following a young gay man trying to make a life in the big city. He meets another man and gets involved in a much bigger world of sex, while running from his past.

This is a movie that doesn’t hold back on everything going on. It jumps head first into the sexual world Casey find himself in. There is a lot of sex in this movie, which seems to compensate for the lack of a deeper story. This wants to give us a lost love story following two people that should be together,  but it ends up not really connecting in a romantic way.

Final Thoughts Lonesome is a sex-heavy romantic drama.

When the Haunt opens, they find big crowds but the night turns into a nightmare. Teddy has returned to continue his killing spree leaving bodies across the whole attraction.

Verdict on Teddy Told Me To

Teddy Told Me To is a horror movie that uses the haunted house concept to bring a new serial killer to life. It follows a couple that buys an old abandoned haunted attraction. They look to opening it up as a new Haunt despite the history of a mysterious serial killer being around it.

We have seen plenty of haunted attraction movies over the years. We get to see the team put in place usually comprised of colourful characters who love horror. This movie does that and makes us see the passion on joy the team has. Where the movie looks to create something outside the normal, is with the legacy of the building. We hear about a serial killer connected to it, one that has a unique creation and a deadly mindset.

In the end, Teddy Told Me To does everything a haunted attraction movie should. It has great kills, blood splatter and unique weapons in play. We get fun characters that truly feel involved in the world. Leaving you to have a good time watching the movie.

Final Thoughts Teddy Told Me To is a fun addition to the haunted attraction horror scene.

There may be spoilers in the rest of the review

Story: Red Rocket starts as washed-up porn star Mikey Saber (Rex) returns to a small Texan town. He returns to his wife Lexi (Elrod) who lives with her mother Lil (Deiss), promising to help with rent if he can stay there. Mikey turns to former local drug dealer to help him with his finances.

When Mikey meets a donut waitress Strawberry (Son), he sees something special about her. He starts to get close to her, believing she could become the next big star in the porn industry.

Verdict on Red Rocket

Red Rocket is a comedy drama that follows a washed-up porn star who wants to get back into the industry. He has returned to his wife, hoping to bring things back together again. This sees him select a young woman he believes could help him return to his former stardom.

The movie gets to show how former stars in any industry will always want to recapture their success. Sean Baker continues to show how low-income families on the verge of poverty get through each day. He tends to cast relatively unknown actors who get to shine. Simon Rex is fantastic, having only previously seen in him parody movies in the past. The movie shows how people will give up on their dreams to make sure can chase false dreams.

Final Thoughts Red Rocket is another brilliant movie from Sean Baker.
