Verdict: Beautiful Relationship Drama
Story: 10.000 Km starts as we meet the two lovers in Barcelona, Alex (Tena) and Sergi (Verdaguer), Alex is offered a job in America, this would keep them away from each other for year and the difficult decision must be made.
As the year goes past the two must find ways to keep their love together, with daily updates to just what they are up to and imagining they are together for the couple’s moments, can they last the year with only technology to stay together.
Thoughts on 10.000 Km
Characters – Alex is the English photographer that gets an opportunity of a life time in America, which will take her away from her boyfriend for a year’s work, she can’t say no and wants to keep the relationship going. Sergi is the Spanish man that doesn’t want to stand in Alex’s way, he loves her and wants her to follow her dreams, knowing giving up a year is something he could manage. Each character must make difficult decisions and we see the processes they must go through.
Performances – Natalia Tena and David Verdaguer are both wonderful to watch, they both bring everything that is needed for their characters with their chemistry which shows the strain they are meant to be feeling.
Story – The story here shows how a couple who are madly in love must make a decision between a relationship or a career which will leave them 10.000 Km apart. This shows us how difficult it would be to maintain a relationship, how both sides know dreams must be followed and just how difficult love can be when you know you can’t live without the other person. The use of technology has clearly made relationships easier to hold together and this shows us just how it can work at times, even without the physical contact. The way the story is told is interesting because we jump through the days quickly, with some having almost nothing happening, while others have the important conversations the couple must have.
Comedy/Romance – The romance in the film is the highlight because it shows us just how two people must try to make a relationship out of the distance they are apart however difficult they might believe it to be.
Settings – The film uses to main settings the apartment in Barcelona and the one in LA, this shows us that outside these apartments the two must make a living, inside they can share the life through the computer screen as best they can.
Final Thoughts – This is a wonderful look at long distance relationships, how they can be difficult no matter how much you are in love, the leads give brilliant performances that shows in their chemistry even if things go slowly along.
Overall: Relationship drama that is one to be watching.
