Episode 8 – Lisa’s Pony
Couch Gag – This time Homer lays down on the couch only for the whole family to jump on top of him.
Plot Synopsis – After ruining Lisa’s performance at the school talent show, Homer tries to make it up by buying her a pony.
What is going on really – This episode starts with a 2001 a Space Odyssey waking Homer up in need to Lisa a saxophone reed for the talent show, Homer rushing around ends up in Moe’s missing the chance to get the reed.
Arriving late Homer lets Lisa down, leaving her depressed and Homer looking back on the moments of her life he missed. Homer looking for a hail Mary to fix the problem and buy Lisa a pony. Getting a loan from Mr Burns, Homer buys Lisa the pony she always wanted.
Homer learns that Lisa’s love costs a lot more than he imagined, he takes up a second job working for Apu. Lisa must learn how difficult it is to keep a pony and how much Homer loves her.
Final Thoughts – This episode does feel well before its time, it focuses on how people will spend money they don’t have to make the dreams of their loved ones happen. This is a big plus even if we would have liked more time with Lisa and the pony.
