The Simpsons Challenge

Season 3

Episode 1 – Stark Raving Dad

Couch Gag – This time we see the whole family fall off the back leaving an indent of the shape of the family in the wall.

Plot SynopsisHomer accidentally lands in a mental hospital and ends up sharing a room with a white man who thinks he is Michael Jackson.

What is going on reallyThe episode starts with Lisa wanting Bart to get her something special for her birthday, we continue to see how Bart is falling to do the responsible behaviour by not watching Maggie, we see the final failure when he has put his red cap in the wash with Homer’s whites turning all his shirts pink.

Mr Burns sees the pink shirt and believes Homer is going crazy forcing him to take a personality test but let’s Bart fill it in for him. The results land Homer in the mental hospital rooming with a big white guy who believes he is Michael Jackson.

Becoming friends with Michael and having references to One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Homer gets released and brings Michael home with him but Bart getting over excited believing it is the real Michael Jackson bringing the whole of Springfield to the Simpsons residents.

Learning the disappointment Bart has bought Lisa by forgetting her birthday Michael plans to help Bart write a song for, the best gift she has got and we learn the real identity of the man.

Star Character

Guest Appearance

Michael Jackson

Final ThoughtsThis is one the best episodes I have seen so far of the show, it has plenty of references to films, the biggest guest star in Michael Jackson and one of the most complete stories. The song will stick with you too.
