Abigail Breslin is one of the most recently successful actress that started as a child star with her first appearance in Signs where she was on of Mel Gibson’s children and now at the age of 20 she has worked with some of the biggest names in the business today including Mel Gibson, Joaquin Phoenix, Steve Carell, Alan Arkin, Greg Kinnear, Paul Dano, Ryan Reynolds, Gerard Butler, Cameron Diaz, Jodie Foster, Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, Bill Murray, Johnny Depp, Halle Berry, Julie Roberts, Meryl Streep, Ewan McGregor, Benedict Cumberbatch, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis. This is a list that anyone would be proud of for their whole career not just the beginning. Abigail also has been nominated for one Oscar for her brilliant performance in Little Miss Sunshine. Today I am going to be looking at my five favourite roles from her early career.
I am starting with two honourable mentions with Little Rock in Zombieland and Veronica in Final Girl which are both great performance and should be watch.
Maya is the daughter of Will Hayes (Ryan Reynolds) who wants to learn about how Will met her mother. This is a very good performance in one of my personal favourite romantic comedies and her character enthusiasm drives the story.
Casey is a teenage girl that gets kidnapped by a serial killer that likes to mock the emergency response unit, she is resourcefully when it comes to trying to keep alive while Jordan Turner (Halle Berry) tries to keep her calm. This is a performance that shows Abigail is getting into more adult roles.
Chanel #5 is one of the sorority girls under the powerful Chanel Oberlin, she is easily the butt of most of her jokes but loves the popularity of her role. One of the on running jokes is that she can’t find a guy because of the rumours Chanel Oberlin has started. This shows that one of the best child stars is moving into the adult roles without every looking out of place.
Maggie is the daughter of Wade (Schwarzenegger) who has been bitten by a zombie in the outbreak, Wade wants to spend as much time with her a possible in what is one of the best and most underrated dramas of 2015 that is similar to watching a film about a person dying of a natural illness.
Olive is on a road trip with her family to enter her into a beauty pageant and her constant positive attitude helps the family stay together to achieve this dream a reality. This role got her an Oscar nomination.
