Underground (2011)

logoDirector: Rafael Eisenman

Writer: Charles Morris Jr (Screenplay)

Starring: Sofia Pernas, Adrian R’Mante, Jeff D’Agostino, Christine Evangelista, Megan Hensly, Adam Meirick, Inbar Lavi, Ross Thomas, Jack Donner

Plot: At an abandoned military base a group of friends are at a rave.  Matt (Thomas), Mira (Pernas), Storm (R’Mante), Eric (D’Agostino), Jenna (Evangelista) have an altercation with a gang and find themselves locked in an underground area in the base. With the way in no longer available the group must locate a new way out but things get worse when they find out they are not alone down there. The generator running low and creatures hunting them down only time will tell who makes it out alive.

Verdict: A nice action horror

Story: The story itself is not the most original but it takes much used ideas and creates a few more creative deaths. It also uses some likeable characters that would in other films come off weak with their loyalty rather than showing the strength they do. It is a basic story so just sit, enjoy and see who will be left standing at the end. (7/10)

Actor Review: Ross Thomas – Matt an Iraq army man who has come back to town with a few more scars and a new lady, tough loyal and always favourite in a fight, this is one guy you would want on your side if you went up against these creatures. Good performance along with some good individual scenes and small fights. Star Performance Award, Action Star Award (8/10)

Actor Review: Sofia Pernas – Matt’s new lady Mira a doctor who saved his life and she again proves to be very useful in the scenario with all background. Good performance doesn’t needless scream like others and tries to act a lot calmer. (7/10)

Actor Review: Adrian R’Mante – Storm Iraq army man who like Matt is loyal and tough, willing to fight to the death to save his brothers in arms. Good performance and has one very good fight scene. (7/10)

 storm

Actor Review: Christine Evangelista – Jenna spends a lot of time screaming and running away on her own, typical blonde in a film. Good performance that does get on your nerves with the characters stupidity through the film. (7/10)

 jenna

Actor Review: Jeff D’Agostino – Eric one of the group who has returned from service in Iraq and has a close bond with the rest of the guys. It would be fair to say he is the weakest of the characters in a fight but is very important to Matt and Storm. Good performance throughout. Unluckiest Character Award (7/10)

Director Review: Rafael EisenmanCreates a good action horror this could be the start of a new look at horror for the director. (7/10)

Horror: Good horror with some good scares but no real jumps. (7/10)

Special Effects: Some good special effects and make up use. (8/10)

Believability: The military are always been suspected of extreme experiments this is left to what you want to believe them to have done. (5/10)

Chances of Tears: No (0/10)

Settings: Military base is different and comes off to good effects creating a dark isolated setting. (9/10)
Oscar Chances
: None

Chances of Sequel: Left open to one.

Suggestion: I have suggested plenty of horrors and I like to suggest ones that not many people have heard of but this is usually difficult as most of them are poor. This is actually a good watchable horror that is well worth a watch, it might not be ground breaking but it does the ABC’s very well. (Try It)

Best Part: The fact they don’t hide the creature it is just an attacking that surprises.

Worst Part: Even though the twist ending is good, they throw too many before the final one.

Kill Of The Film: Jenna

Similar Too: The Decent

Overall: A good survival horror
