Through the month of January I will be looking back on 2014, I will be looking at a range of subjects where I will be picking my best or worst in separate posts.
Today I will be look at Breakthrough Male. Today I am going to look at the male stars who have made their impact in the business this year.
Mentions that could have been number one;
Ansel Elgort – This was a big year for Ansel following on his debut last year in Carrie. Ansel plays brother to lead in Divergent along with romantic lead in The Fault in our Stars. He is finishing the year with Men, Women & Children.
Brenton Thwaites – Started the year with horror film Oculus, following it up with indie sci-fi thriller The Signal. Maleficent followed that up and was his biggest film of the year. He also starred in The Giver which was yet another teen rebelling against the world and also starred in action thriller Son of a Gun. This has been a huge year for the young star which has led him to get a role in the next Pirates of the Caribbean.
My favourite
Jack O’Connell – Films – Starred Up, 300 Rise of an Empire, ‘71 and Unbroken. This year has been a massive year for Jack with the highly rated prisoner drama Starred Up, ’71 which is being tipped to win British awards and Angelina Jolie directing debut Unbroken which looks like one of the most powerful films this year.
Ohhhh good call..good call.. and yeah Jamie Dornan is probably a shoo-in ..let’s hope for a few new good ones!
I like that end of the year possible surprise.. and that would be….tell tell tell.. 🙂
most of the star wars cast to start with and potentially the guy in fifty shades of grey
I liked all of them..would have added in Miles Teller… oh and I’m calling it now.. 2015 breakout star.. Taron Egerton will be at the top of the list.. maybe Douglas Booth also.. 🙂
i wrote this before i saw Whiplash sadly or he would be on the list. both good calls but i think someone will surprise us later in the year
